Freezing Temperature

January 22, 2026

With freezing temperatures upon us, this is your friendly (and necessary) reminder that water freezes when it gets cold.  If your meter can lid is not in place, the meter can will fill with cold air, and everything inside it will freeze.  YES everything (meter, fittings, pipes, the whole works).  Frozen equipment often leads to leak, water loss and repair bills no one enjoys.  Please take a moment to check your meter can.  Make sure the lid is properly installed, ensure it is secure and intact, remove any debris that may prevent the lid from sealing.  Preventing freeze damage is far easier and cheaper than dealing with the aftermath once temperatures rise again.  Thank you for taking a few minutes now to save yourself a bigger headache later.
